Please Let Me Join You Posted March 25, 2004 It is very difficult to express our feelings for a departed Vaishnava. I have had the opportunity of once witnessing such an event. It is sobering. His Holiness Sridhara Swami has left us here, in this world of strife and discord. But his exemplary life, his love for Srila Prabhupada, his love for his Godbrothers and sisters, his dedication to the mission of our Acarya, cannot but give us immense joy. The attributes and essence of this joy goes beyond the words used to describe the pleasures of this insipid world because it stems from Sri Krishna and it touches the soul. Sridhara Swami already lives in the memory of the living, in our minds and hearts, as a gentleman who was true to his vows of service, selfless dedication, and personal sacrifice, all the way— till the end of his earthly life. If people are to find peace and become sane once again, it is only through love— love of Krishna, love for Srila Prabhupada, and genuine love and deep respect for each other. His Holiness Sridhara Swami exemplified such eternal love. The love that all of you are now experiencing when you remember His Holiness— the love of serving together in Srila Prabhupada's mission, the love of chanting the Holy Names and dancing together, the love of living and dying together— this is the love all living beings are striving for, without any avail. This is the love I am thirsting for. I am not a devotee in the least, but I beg for permission to join the thousands of great Vaishnavas who where around him, who knew him, who served him, who served with him, to pay my homage to such a holy man. All glories to Sridhara Swami! Yugala Kishor dasa © dipika.org March 25, 2004 |
