Baltimore’s First Rathayatra & Festival of India Posted April 26, 2003 This is an open invitation to all devotees and friends of Lord Jagannatha. The Hare Krishna Temple of Baltimore, will hold its first ever Jagannatha Rathayatra and Festival of India celebration on Saturday, May 24th, in downtown Baltimore's Inner Harbor area. The Rathayatra parade will begin at noon at the corner of Pratt and Eutaw Streets in front of the world famous Oriole Park at Camden Yards and will follow to the Festival of India site at the corner of Pratt and Light Streets, just before the Inner Harbor. The festival will go on throughout the afternoon and evening featuring lectures on Vedic philosophy, kirtan and bhajans, cultural dances, and prasadam. For those who do not know, Baltimore's Lord Jagannatha travels across the United States for festivals in New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, and more. This will be his first visit to the streets of his home city of Baltimore, Maryland. Please come and make it a memorable occasion. Baltimore is 30 miles north of Washington DC. It is in easy driving distance from most of the major cities on the US eastern seaboard including, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Richmond, and Raleigh.
